Project Brief & Skillset Role:
Petropel’s gas pipeline in El Gameel Abu Madi, with diameters of “32 and 26” and “24,” covering a total length of 170 km, is considered a crucial strategic endeavor within the Egyptian petroleum sector.
The project’s tight schedule necessitates a vast array of implementation equipment and a substantial number of technicians to adhere to the compressed timeline set by Petropel.
This timeline aligns with the trading and gas production strategy, connecting production areas and providing logistical support for the large-scale deployment of equipment, personnel, supervision teams, and execution teams.
SKILLSET Role:
Given the imperative to innovate and devise new methods to elevate efficiency without requiring an excessive number of technicians or equipment, our role involved inventing a new system to achieve this objective.
This entailed implementing pipeline projects for areas connected to the Duple Joint pipe welding system, utilizing Submerged Weld and introducing Column Boom for the first time. This involved establishing and organizing workgroups for pipe handling and on-site inspection, transporting them vertically to the pipeline axis using telescopic trailers. This innovative approach resulted in significant time and cost savings, reducing the number of required equipment compared to traditional execution methods.
The System’s Design, Execution, and Training of Workgroups Encompassed:
- Developing welding procedures.
- Designing the work site to achieve maximum lean efficiency.
- Equipping the site with lighting and entrances for 24/7 operations.
- Preparing the site for pipe loading.
- Preparing the site for loading double pipes after welding along the pipeline.
- Installing the COLUMN & BOOM machine.
- Installing and adjusting the movement rails and aligning the pipes for welding.
- Preparing the site for inspecting the welds immediately upon completion.
